We have received a response from the Finnish Food Authority regarding the African swine fever (ASF) infection zone in the area. According to the authority's preliminary assessment, no exception permits will be granted for moving in the terrain (such as hiking trails) for disease control reasons. The event will still take place, but to ensure safety, we are implementing a contingency plan: we take biosecurity seriously and will do everything possible to ensure a successful and safe event. We are continuing to organize the event and clarify the situation concerning the African swine fever control zone with the authorities. The Finnish Food Authority has not yet had time to process our application for an exemption regarding the use of the trail route in the Miehikkälä and Virolahti area. As the event approaches, we want to be completely transparent about the different options and the decision-making schedule.
