Press release on the impact of African Swine Fever (ASF) on the event

Notice to event participants: Impact of African swine fever (ASF) infection zone on road travel

The Finnish Food Authority has established an infectious disease zone in the Miehikkälä and Virolahti areas due to African swine fever (ASF) to limit the spread of the disease. As the terrain route operating as part of our event passes through the area in question, we take official guidelines and biosecurity very seriously.

As the event organizer, we have already been in direct contact with the Finnish Food Authority and submitted an official application for an exemption for movement in the terrain. We are following the development of the situation in close cooperation with the authorities.

  • Route and arrangements: The event will be organized with safety as the top priority. If a special permit is granted, we will inform participants of any specific instructions (such as cleaning procedures for equipment and footwear).
  • Contingency plan: If movement in the terrain needs to be restricted, we will move the route to alternative road or street sections outside the infectious disease zone. In the worst-case scenario, we may have to postpone or cancel the event.
  • Next announcement: We will provide additional information as soon as the Finnish Food Authority has processed our application.

We thank all participants and partners for their understanding and flexibility. A safe and successful event is certainly a shared concern for all of us.
